Session notes
Updated June 21, 2026
Your private memory for every client
Session notes are where you capture what matters about each client and each session. They live in the client's record, so the next time you sit down with someone, the context is right there. No scrambling to remember what you covered last time.
Where notes live
Your notes are kept with each client in the Clients area. You can keep notes about the client overall, and notes tied to specific sessions, so you can follow the thread of someone's progress over time.
What to capture
There is no right way to take notes. Whatever helps you show up prepared is the right approach. Many coaches jot down things like:
Key themes or goals the client is working toward.
What came up in the session.
Anything to follow up on next time.
Private to you
Your session notes are private. They are for your eyes, to help you coach well. Clients do not see them.
Tip: A quick note right after each session, while it is fresh, is worth more than a long write-up later. Even one or two lines keeps your future self prepared.
To see how notes fit alongside everything else you keep on a client, see add and manage clients.
